Ajax have found a couple of diamonds in the rough in Frenkie de Jong and Matthijs de Ligt, as the youngsters have really taken the world for assault with their talents and the way they seem to understand the game.
De Jong has already inked his signature on a long-term deal with FC Barcelona, and is set to carry Sergio Busquets' torch once the Spaniard decides it's time to call it a day and leave the team
As for de Ligt, the center-back has been one of the most impressive players in the world all year long. He's drawn a lot of praise from his teammates and rivals, as he looks like a veteran leading the center of the defense despite being just 19 years old.
“De Ligt is 19, De Jong is 21, but they think like a 30-year-old. Their brains are amazing. Their mentality is complete. You cannot buy this. I have never seen it in my life. They will suit everyone. They have everything in their game," Dusan Tadic told The Sun earlier in the week.
There's no wonder why Barcelona have been trying to convince Ajax to make it two for one and sign de Ligt as well, with the teenager reportedly eager to play next to Lio Messi and continue his career besides his longtime friend de Jong.
However, his agent Mino Raiola - who's also working with Paul Pogba, among others - seems reluctant to engage in talks with the Blaugrana, as he would prefer the defender to sign for a team with more "financial stability," like Bayern Munchen, Manchester United, or Juventus, as reported by Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo.
Also, de Ligt would find a lot of competition at Camp Nou, with Gerard Pique and Clement Lenglet thriving as the team's main stoppers. Still, Bartomeu is not going to give up so easily and is going to be quite aggressive on his pursuit for the 19-year-old.
