Barcelona’s Wantaway Jasper Cillessen Accuses Team Of Blocking His Exit

Just like it happened last year, Jasper Cillessen and his wishes to leave Barcelona are one of the toughest stories for the Blaugrana this one. Albeit he’s demonstrated over and over that he’s very capable when given the chance, Cillessen hasn’t counted with many opportunities to display all the best of his talents with the club and now is keen to leave Barcelona once and for all.

However, that doesn’t seem to be an easy move for the Dutchman, who has claimed that the team is doing everything to complicate his departure. There are several teams interested in Cillessen and this moment, with Manchester United being the apparent front-runners to acquire his services this summer.

But, Jasper has stated that Barcelona hasn’t done anything to facilitate his exit from the team and in fact they are making things more complicated. This season wasn’t precisely the best for Spanish goalie David De Gea who made several high-profile and uncharacteristic errors that didn't leave him in a good position with the team. Now De Gea is expected to decide whether he's going to stay with the team or will go play somewhere else next season.

That’s why the Red Devils have already made a list of potential replacements for De Gea, and Cillessen appears as a strong candidate to defend their net alongside Atletico’s Jan Oblak and Ajax’s Andre Onana. Mundo Deportivo claims that Cillessen is on United radar and they could take him for £22 million, while the Netherland’s international claims Barcelona are demanding his full release clause, which would scare away potential suitors, including the likes of Benfica and Valencia.

"The fact that Barcelona ask for €60m for me does not help anything," he told VTBL.

"I still have to wait and see what happens in one of the top five European leagues. [A decision] will only be taken after the holidays."

Teams interested in Cillessen’s talents are reportedly willing to offer around 20 million euros to sign the former Ajax goaltender and it doesn’t seem very plausible that somebody would offer more than that in the next weeks. Still, we have to wait until the end of the UEFA Nations League to see what will happen with the keeper and his future.
