Breaking: Real Madrid Confirm Eden Hazard Signing From Chelsea

One of the biggest stories in the football world in recent weeks has finally come to its end and is a happy one if you are Real Madrid. Eden Hazard has made his long-awaited move to Spain after several weeks of speculations.

Chelsea star Eden Hazard has completed his move Real Madrid in a deal initially worth €100 million, but can rise to €140 million with incentives, signing a 5-year contract through June 30, 2024, the Spanish side announced. Hazard will be introduced as a Madrid player on June 13.

Earlier this week the Whites sent representatives to London to meet with Chelsea director Marina Granovskaia and a couple of days later, Hazard has made his ‘dream move’ to the capital of Spain. He will be very missed at Stamford Bridge but he made sure to leave good memories there by taking Chelsea to win the UEFA Europa League against Arsenal a couple of days ago, scoring two goals.

Granovskaia thanked Hazard in a statement, saying:

"Although it is with sadness we say goodbye to Eden and we made it absolutely clear to him the club wished him to stay, we respect the decision he has made to take on a new challenge in a different country and follow his childhood dream of playing for Real Madrid.

"The memories he leaves us with will not fade. He provided all who watched Chelsea play with great entertainment and many match-winning contributions, and for that we thank Eden enormously.

"He has been a model professional throughout his time at the club, a wonderful individual to have around and a joy to work with. We look forward to welcoming him back to Stamford Bridge in the future."

After very good seasons in French side Lille, Hazard signed with Chelsea seven years ago, becoming one of the best attackers the Blues have had in recent history. Now the 28-year-old is set to do the same in Madrid and lead the team to be that impressive side they were until last season.

Hazard joins Luka Jovic as Madrid’s first signings this summer after the team purchased the Serbian for €70 million from Eintracht Frankfurt earlier this week.
