Diego Simeone is keen to bring out-of-favour forward Alvaro Morata on board, trying to take his career back from the ashes following a disastrous tenure at Chelsea.
The club wants to get rid of the 26-year-old Spaniard, as they look to snub Gonzalo Higuain out of AC Milan to reinforce Maurizio Sarri’s team attack.
Landing the former Real Madrid and Juventus standout is not going to be an easy task, though, as Chelsea’s demanding that any takers pay for his full salary this season on 6-month loan, and then pay his entire wager after next season.
For that matter, the Colchoneros need to offload a couple of players as they’re already near their salary limit for the season, and, according to Goal, they’re already offering Nikola Kalinic and Gelson Martins to try and pull the trigger for Morata.
Let’s not forget Morata grew up an Atleti fan, but eventually left to join Real Madrid’s academy at the tender age of 12. The striker has made 24 appearances this season but has only netted the ball 9 times, and a change of environment seems due for the former Atleti ball-boy.
