English giants Chelsea don’t stop looking for new players for next season, even though they’re facing a prospect of a transfer ban for the next two windows. That doesn’t stop the Blues from eyeing players for the upcoming term, and now one of the most surprising players of the season has been linked with the Londoners.
Ajax’s David Neres is the latest addition to Chelsea’s bucket list following a marvelous season with the Dutch side, scoring 11 goals and giving 10 assists in all competitions to help them win a league and domestic cup double. This campaign was magical for Ajax and its staff, as a big part of the team might be leaving this summer and Neres won’t be exempt of that.
Per The Independent, the 22-year-old winger might be moving to Stamford Bridge in the offseason. Chelsea is reportedly lining up a £40m bid for the Brazilian, although they have to wait as any proposed move is dependent on the outcome of their transfer ban given to them by FIFA as well as they're hoping Neres not to sign with other teams interested in him, including PSG, Liverpool or Arsenal.
Let's recall that he Blues received a 12-month ban for breaking transfer regulations at the time of signing young players, and now are deliberating whether to request the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) freeze their ban.
Now Chelsea is bound to refresh its staff given the fact that a move out from Eden Hazard is imminent and they will try to replace the Belgium player and remain as an important force in England and Europe. They already have Christian Pulisic locked up and if they can sign Neres, their attack would be one of the most frenetic in Premier League next season.
Pedro and William are also entering the last years of their contract; a generational change will be mandatory, and what better way to start fresh with two of the most unbalancing wingers at this moment.
