BREAKING: Tottenham Confirm Christian Eriksen Could Be On His Way Out

Christian Eriksen

Tottenham Hotspur may be forced to play without one of their biggest stars next season, as Christian Eriksen's desire to leave keeps growing by the day and the club is reportedly getting "a lot of interest" for his services.

Eriksen wasn't sure about signing a contract extension with the London club and losing the UEFA Champions League final vs. Liverpool did little to put his doubts at ease.

So, when asked about his future and the contract extension talks, Tottenham's boss Mauricio Pochettino confirmed that he's, in fact, likely to leave:

“I hope he will (stay). I think he is a great player, Christian. One of the biggest talents in football. After five years working with him, I am sure in the way that he plays, and I hope so, yes. But you know, there is a lot of interest. I hope yes, but I don’t know what is going to happen with that," Pochettino claimed, as quoted by Teamtalk.

Eriksen has been linked with a move out of the team for quite some time and his latest statements have been quite open and frontal about his situation:

"I have the wildest and deepest respect for everything that has happened in Tottenham, nor will it be negative. But I have also said that I would like to try something new. I hope there will be clarification during the summer. That's the plan. In soccer, you do not know when a clarification comes. It can happen anytime. Everyone knows it's best if it happens as soon as possible, but in football takes things time", Eriksen claimed.

Moreover, he addressed the reported interest from Real Madrid in his services, claiming it would definitely be a step up on his career, even though he clarified that they haven't made a formal bid for his services as of yet:

"It's a step up. But it requires Real Madrid to call Tottenham and say they want me. And they have not done so yet, as far as I know"
