Ever since joining Real Madrid from Flamengo, the bar was quite high for Vinicius Junior, as some people claimed he was not going to be able to live up to the expectations, while others saw a diamond in the rough in him.
During his first year with Los Blancos, the Brazilian forward climbed his way to the first team and even took some minutes away from Gareth Bale, but a season-ending injury prevented him from taking a step forward.
Now, however, Vinicius is running and gunning again, scoring a beautiful strike vs. Osasuna to give Real Madrid a 1-0 lead and climb all the way to the top spot of the table.
Thus, it looks like Vinicius' performances haven't gone unnoticed by his compatriots, or at least you could tell that by Dani Alves' recent words, when he claimed Vinicius is the best young player in the world right now:
"I would have to say Vinicius Junior from Real Madrid. There are some players that are born with the talent and for sure he is one of them. I had the chance to watch him play closely, with the Brazil national team – I'm positive we will see and hear a lot more about him soon," the Barcelona legend told Business Insider.
Alves spent most of his career with Barcelona and became the winningest soccer player ever, winning pretty much every single competition he's ever played outside of the World Cup.
So, his words must've really made Catalan fans angry, especially considering Ansu Fati has quickly emerged as one of the most promising prospects in the world.
Vinicius is still quite raw in some aspects of the game but there's no doubt about his talent and passion for the game, and the sky seems to be the limit for him right now. He's even making Barcelona legends fall in love with him!
