Brazilian star Neymar was heavily linked with a move away from Paris Saint-Germain over the summer, with both Barcelona and Real Madrid thought to be the biggest candidates to get his signature. However, now it looks like Barcelona have the advantage in this situation and a potential arrival in Catalonia looks plausible for Ney.

We’re a couple of weeks away from the January transfer window, so it’s normal to see any kind of rumors coming to light, especially when it’s about a star like Neymar.

There’s been an update on this saga after Barcelona sporting director Eric Abidal discussed the possibility of seeing the 27-year-old returning to the Camp Nou in the future.

In an interview with Mundo Deportivo, the former defender didn’t rule out the possibility of trying to revive a deal for the Brazil international, suggesting he has what it takes to play for the club and will be a great option for them if he continues playing the way he’s done so far with PSG.

“A top player, who has a Barca philosophy and who is performing at a high level, will always be an option. From there, at the sports level we can make decisions, but the whole financial issue, there are things that you can reach and others that you cannot,” Abidal said about Neymar.

“The future will say. If it continues at this level, because the season is very long, I will not say that it will be option number 1 but it can be a clear option,” he added.

It’s curious to see that Ney left Barcelona because he apparently didn’t want to live under Lio Messi’s shadow. PSG was meant to be an escape for that, but now he’s seen how Kylian Mbappe has become the biggest star at the Parc des Princes and one of the best players in the world.

Neymar’s future could be impacted by Mbappe himself and his immediate future with the club. It was reported that Zinedine Zidane was eager to land the Frenchman, so that might become a reality if Zizou’s claims are true.

Of course, the Ligue 1 champions won’t afford losing two superstars in one summer, so it will be interesting to see what they’re going to do and who between Neymar and Mbappe will end up leaving the French capital.
