Ernesto Valverde wants to move on from the Neymar saga after a couple of months full of drama, rumors, and speculation. Barcelona’s boss thinks the ongoing talks about Neymar and the club could have a negative effect on his team.

Ney is reportedly eager to return to Barcelona, the club he left in 2017 to join Paris Saint-Germain for a world-record fee. The Catalans made several offers this summer, but none could persuade PSG to part ways with Neymar, who has to wait until next year to see if he can finally return to the Camp Nou.

This is a hot topic in Barca’s headquarters, as even their maximum figure Lionel Messi has spoken about it. Messi said this week he does not know if his side did everything possible to bring the Brazilian back to Catalonia.

Valverde, however, didn’t want to discuss Messi's interview during Friday's news conference, telling reporters: "Was this not over? It is done.

"We've been speaking about Neymar before the window, during it and now afterward we're still talking about him.

"It's time to turn the page. He's a very good player. The market closed days ago.

"He's a great player, I know everyone has their opinion. Talking about these things is bad for the club. I do not like it.

"I didn't read the interview. Everyone looks at Lio with binoculars. There is no need to attach too much importance,” he said, as quoted by Goal.

The Blaugrana are set to compete for everything this season even though they couldn’t land Neymar. Maybe next year things will be easier for the Spanish giants, but we have to wait until that time comes.
