It looks like Florentino Perez and Real Madrid aren't willing to leave anything to chances, as they've already secured several big-name signings for the team with the arrivals of Eden Hazard, Eder Militao, Rodrygo, Luka Jovic, and now Ferland Mendy.
The Frenchman is coming off a great season with Olympique Lyon and drew a lot of praise from scouts and media all over the world, thus becoming a Real Madrid target and joining the team on a €48 million transfer.
However, Mendy is no ordinary player, as the young man has come quite a long way since he was a teenager, and couldn't help to show his emotions when talking to the media about what he's been through and where he is right now:
"When I was 15 I had a hip operation and they told me I would never play football again. I was in a wheelchair for a while and spent six or seven months in a hospital for rehab. Now I'm at Real Madrid. It's incredible," Mendy told the media.
Mendy is set to become one of Real Madrid's biggest stars for the future, and, as per his words, it was Raphael Varane the one that eventually convinced him of signing with Los Blancos:
"I've spoken to Varane and he told me it was the greatest club in the world. He said he would help me to integrate well in the dressing room. That's going to be easier for me as I play with him for France. I'm very happy to be a part of Real Madrid. I know the quality of Marcelo. He's had a great career and I'm going to learn a lot from him."
Also, there's a huge chance his fellow compatriots Paul Pogba and/or Kylian Mbappe will also join him at Santiago Bernabeu, as Florentino is eager to keep reinforcing his squad and won't hesitate to spend a big buck in order to become the best team in the world once again.
