Bruno Fernandes has been one of the most interesting players in Europe in the last season after his impressive performances with Sporting Lisbon, which made a lot of top clubs turn their heads to him.
He was heavily linked with a move to the Premier League, with Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur believed to be the frontrunners to get his signature.
Fernandes recently revealed to GQ Portugal that he wanted to join Tottenham, but Sporting blocked a move.
"Tottenham made several offers to sign me," Fernandes told GQ. "The conditions were good for me, but Sporting didn't think the offer was enough and I have to respect that decision.
"I've never asked for much. My goal was and is to play in England. Sporting and everyone else knows it."
That’s part of the past now, and Fernandes is still drawing attention from big clubs across the continent. In recent days, the Portuguese midfielder has been heavily linked with a move to Real Madrid, a club looking eager to land a midfielder before the transfer window shuts down. Los Blancos would offer £63 million for the 24-year-old after cooling their interest in United midfielder Paul Pogba.
According to Fiorentina's director Daniele Prade, it's a matter of time before we see Bruno playing at the Santiago Bernabeu.
"Bruno Fernandes will go to Real Madrid for €70 million," Prade told Corriere dello Sport when he was asked about rumors of interest in Sporting Lisbon midfielder Raphinha.
"Sporting could be finished in the market because Bruno Fernandes will go to Real Madrid €70 million" was his response during the presentation for most recent signing Dalbert.
La Liga transfer window will close this Monday, so Madrid need to move fast if they want to strike a deal for the talented playmaker. It was reported that superagent Jorge Mendes was working with Real Madrid, offering the player. Last season Bruno scored 32 goals in 53 games.
