Gareth Bale was one of the first points Zinedine Zidane had to address when he made his glorious comeback to Real Madrid, as the Welshman was mightily struggling with the team and all signs pointed towards him leaving Santiago Bernabeu in the summer.
However, with the lack of interest and offers the team has gotten for the winger, Bale has been left on an island with a little-to-none chance of being moved this transfer window.
Zidane made it clear to Bale that he wasn't counting on him going forward, but British outlet The Independent claim Florentino Perez has urged the Frenchman to reconsider his stance regarding Bale.
Thing is, Perez wants Bale to showcase himself in order for other teams to get interested in his services, as neither Real Madrid or him are willing to lower their financial expectations to work out on a solution for him.
So, Zizou may be forced to insert Bale into the team's starting XI or feature him constantly just to put him in a position to shine and prove that he's still worthy of a shot.
Bale was supposed to take a step forward with Los Blancos last season after Cristiano Ronaldo shockingly left the team to join Italian giants Juventus.
Still, his inconsistency took a major toll on his chances to make an impact with the team, with standout youngster Vinicius Jr even outplaying him for a starting spot during most of the season.
And now that Marco Asensio will also be on Zidane's plans, plus Vinicius' comeback from his injury and Eden Hazard's signing, Bale is going to have a lot of competition at Santiago Bernabeu.
As for the rest of the team, it looks like Bale isn't the only player reluctant to give up on his Real Madrid dream, with Keylor Navas and James Rodriguez also trying to prove Zidane that they have what it takes to be valuable assets for them going forward.
