Manchester United have been struggling to score since the start of the season, as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's team doesn't create much in the final third of the pitch with Paul Pogba in the shelf and no other playmaker on their squad.
However, the lack of a true scoring threat has also taken a toll on the team's ability to find success, as they didn't sign any replacement for Romelu Lukaku or Alexis Sanchez, promoting youngsters from the Academy and trusting Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford instead.
That's why Louis Saha, a former Red Devil, urged the team to make a run at Edinson Cavani, who's been often linked with a move out of Paris Saint-Germain:
"Manchester United are the Premier League team that need to strengthen the most in January and they should look at signing Edinson Cavani from PSG. They need to bring in players to challenge the existing players and create competition; Cavani would push Rashford and Martial and make them even better," Saha told Bwin, as quoted by Goal.
Saha acknowledged that the team isn't used to bringing new players mid-season, but judging for the way they've underperformed so far, he urged them to make an exception in Cavani's case.
"Sir Alex (Ferguson) didn’t like signing players in the January transfer window but times are different now; United need to strengthen sooner rather than later. I would love to see Cavani join the Premier League; he would be a great signing for Manchester United." I’d also love to see Dortmund’s Jadon Sancho or Barcelona’s Samuel Umtiti; they would both fit right into the Premier League," The former striker concluded.
Moreover, with Mauro Icardi thriving at PSG and Neymar likely not going anywhere, Cavani could actually be tempted to make a move to the EPL and take the Red Devils back to the top of the world.
