Barcelona’s defender Gerard Pique has made it clear that he’d love to see Neymar making a comeback to the Camp Nou this summer. Ney wants to leave this current side, Paris Saint-Germain and Barcelona appears to be his preferred destination amid interest from Real Madrid.
Los Blancos are competing with the Blaugrana to sign the 27-year-old this summer, but for Pique, the Brazilian should join the La Liga champions.
"Of course we'd like him to come back," Pique told "La 1" of Television Espanola, as quoted by Goal.
"But it's something we can't control. We'll leave it in the hands of those who decide [these things] and from there we'll see in a few days."
Neymar hasn’t played a single minute with PSG after getting injured with his national side during a friendly match against Qatar prior to the Copa America. With ongoing speculation about his future, Ney is yet to play a game with his team, while Barca and Madrid are trying to unlock negotiations with Les Parisiens for the forward.
Even if he stays in Paris, things won’t be the same for him; a couple of weeks ago, when PSG faced Nimes at home, the player was targeted by fans with banners criticizing him for wanting to leave the French capital.
"He's thought a lot about everything and he's done everything right," Pique added.
Barcelona keep working to strike a deal for the controversial attacker, but that won’t be so easy for them. According to SPORT, they placed a bid of €125 million plus Ousmane Dembele and Ivan Rakitic, which was accepted by PSG’s boss Thomas Tuchel, but neither player wants to leave Barcelona now.
The summer transfer window shuts down next Monday and both Barcelona and Real Madrid need to move fast if they want to secure a deal for the Brazilian star. As for right now, it doesn’t look that plausible that they will reach their goal.
