Pep Guardiola is currently in his third season as Manchester City manager, but that could change next year, as there is a growing concern at the Etihad Stadium over the Spanish boss’ future.
Reports have seen the light claiming City have reportedly started to plan for life after Pep Guardiola as doubts have emerged over his future at the Etihad. This season hasn’t been as good as the prior two for Pep and his team, as they sit well off the pace set by Premier League leaders Liverpool.
Now, the Mirror, via The Athletic, report that given Guardiola has never spent more than four seasons at one club as a coach, this could now mark the end of his era at Man City if he keeps doing what he’s done before and decides it’s time for either a break or a new challenge with a different club.
It’s also suggested that City are already looking for candidates to take over from Guardiola, leading to claims they’re prepared for Pep’s departure next summer.
Only time will tell if Guardiola decides to stay with the Citizens, given that he’s insisted throughout his tenure at the Etihad that he has no plans of moving on shortly. However, this is football and anything can happen.
We’ll see if failing to win trophies this season plays a major role in Pep’s decision to leave Manchester. If that’s the case, that would be a huge boost for their rivals given the dominance City had with Pep since his arrival having overseen further success for the club which included a domestic treble last season.
