Diego Milito and Lautaro Martinez share a lot of things. They both thrived at Racing Club, they both earned a spot in Argentina's national team after a lot of doubts, and they've both thrived at San Siro.
Hence, the former Internazionale striker took the liberty of addressing the rumors about Barcelona's interest in Lautaro, claiming he's not surprised at all.
Milito said the sky's the limit for the 22-year-old striker, and predicted he'll be a guy everybody will remember when it's all said and done:
"I was convinced when I first saw him that he would do everything he is showing that he can do now. He has great potential to improve, his limits can only be set by himself. It is all down to Lautaro and where he wants to go in his career. But he can certainly become a top player. The greatest wish I have for him is that one day he will come to experience the same emotions that I felt, that he can do something people will remember. I feel proud to be part of Inter’s history. He has everything he needs to do that too," Milito told Gazzetta dello Sport.
Martinez has been drawing a lot of attention lately since taking over as Inter's starting number nine, replacing his friend and compatriot Mauro Icardi.
So far,'El Toro' has scored 8 goals to go along with 3 assists in 16 appearances for Antonio Conte's team, so there's no wonder why Barcelona could be following his steps.
However, Martinez still needs to put a lot of work on his temper, as he tends to lose his focus from time to time when
things aren't going their way, and that may be a huge problem in a giant stage at Camp Nou.
Still, Barcelona are expected to make a run at him at the end of the season, as they're still looking for a guy that's able to replace the aging Luis Suarez once his deal runs out.
