Ever since completing his move from Sampdoria, Mauro Icardi took the Italian Serie a from assault and instantly made Internazionale a significantly better team.
He scored 124 clubs to go along with 28 assists in 219 caps for the Nerazzurri, but his constant tantrums made him a toxic player for their locker room.
Icardi's antics went so out of hand that the team had no choice but to let him go on a loan to Paris Saint-Germain, as they were just sick and tired of his wife's (and agent) Wanda Nara's comments and his constant involvement in conflicts.
However, his friend and compatriot Lautaro Martinez went on to back him and claim he never wanted to leave Internazionale in the first place and thanked him for his help getting him settled in Italy:
"I have a good relationship with him and we talk a lot. e wanted to stay and in the talks with the club he always said he wanted to play but now he is in another team and I wish him the best because since I arrived in Italy he has been a key person that has helped me integrate better," Martinez told TYC Sports.
Antonio Conte signed Romelu Lukaku to replace Mauro Icardi after the Belgian had some struggles of his own at Manchester United under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's tenure.
Lukaku, however, perfectly adapted to Conte's system early on and he's already scoring goals and proving that he's still got a lot left in the tank, and Martinez went on to laud him for his great start of the season:
“He immediately adapted to the coach’s ideas and the team’s style of play. He’s a striker with incredible characteristics, he’s very powerful. I was surprised by his sheer stature," Martinez concluded.
Inter is trying to take down Juventus and go back to the top of Italy, also signing Alexis Sanchez, Valentino Lazaro, and even Diego Godin ahead of this season.
