Ever since Jurgen Klopp was appointed as Liverpool's boss, the Merseyside squad struggled to find consistency in the defensive side of the pitch.
Fortunately, most of those defensive woes have been solved with the signings of Alisson Becker and Virgil van Dijk, but it looks like Klopp is still not satisfied.
Also, an unfortunate injury-plagued stretch of the season has put their depth in jeopardy once again, especially in the defensive front.
That's why James Peace of Liverpool Echo reports that Jurgen Klopp will be keen to add even more defenders, most specifically center-backs, before the start next season.
“I think a center-back will be on Klopp’s shopping list this summer, I can’t see how he can possibly go into next season with his current personnel. The reality is that Lovren and Matip miss far too much football. Liverpool have played 26 league games this season and Lovren has only featured in nine of them. Gomez is a class act and at the age of 21, he could be a key part of this Liverpool team for the next decade and more. He’s been unlucky with some serious injuries, whereas Lovren and Matip seem to get niggling muscle issues," said Pearce.
The Reds are trying to put an end to their long Championship drought and finally win the English Premier League for the first time in club history, and with their offense running and gunning, it's clear that they need to address their defense situation.
