It looks like the Neymar saga is about to end and nothing will change for the player, his current team and the side expected to acquire his services this summer. It was reported that Barcelona had made several offers for the Brazilian, and one of those was actually accepted by Les Parisiens, but now things look very different.
Now Neymar’s return to Catalonia looks unlikely after Paris Saint-Germain’s sporting director claimed there is no deal in place for the Brazilian forward.
Barcelona have been eager to reunite with Neymar this summer after the winger made it clear that he wanted a move away from Paris. Two years after he became the most expensive transfer in the world, Ney is set to return to Barcelona, but the Blaugrana have been unable to unlock negotiations with the Ligue 1 side.
There was evidence that made us think a deal might be close to being finished, but sporting director Leonardo has now stated that there is still plenty to be done before Monday's deadline if Neymar is to make a surprising comeback to the Camp Nou.
Speaking after PSG's win over Metz on Friday night, he said, as quoted by the Daily Mail:
"Barcelona always knew what we wanted.
"They submitted their first written offer on August 27... We’ve never had a written agreement with Barcelona.
"Today, there’s no deal. That’s the current situation."
The former Santos player was no involved in Friday's game as PSG keep their good pace in the Ligue 1.
Neymar left Barcelona for £198 million in 2017 but he hasn’t had the best time in Paris in recent months, which took him to make no secret of his desire to return to La Liga. He was linked with Real Madrid, as well, but Los Blancos never placed a formal offer for the Brazilian.
