Fans and media from all over the world have tried to put Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi against each other, and the fact that they played for their longtime rivals didn't do much to help them have a strong relationship.
There's been a never-ending debate about which one's better, and you could easily make a strong case for both of them after they've dominated the world for over a decade.
But, wouldn't it be nice if they were friends instead of rivals? This could truly happen, after Cristiano Ronaldo publically invited Messi to have dinner with him:
"We shared the stage 15 years, me and him. "I don't know if it's ever happened in football, the same two guys, in the same stage, all the time. So … it's not easy. Of course, we have a good relationship. We haven't had dinner together yet, but I hope in the future," Cristiano claimed during the UEFA Champions League draw.
And now, a couple of weeks later, Messi has finally responded to the Portuguese star, when Spanish outlet Sport asked him if he would be open to sitting on the same table with his life-long rival:
“Yes, I don’t have any problem with that. I’ve always said that I don’t have any issue with him. We might not be friends because we’ve never shared a dressing room together but I always see him at award shows and there’s no problem. We actually spoke with each other for quite a long time at the most recent show. I don’t know if there will be dinner because I don’t know if our paths will cross for obvious reasons, each one of us has our own life and our own commitments. But obviously, I would accept the invitation," Messi told Sport.
Cristiano Ronaldo's now thriving at Italy with Juventus, while Messi looks to continue his legendary career at Barcelona, so hopefully, they'll find the time to chat and have a nice steak to settle their differences once and for all,
