James Rodriguez' situation is still up in the air, with Zinedine Zidane reluctant to give him another chance to convince him of his value, and Real Madrid unwilling to lower their price for the Colombian.
Atletico de Madrid has already backed down from the race to acquire James' services, with Italian giant Napoli as the lone team trying to work on a deal to sign him.
And, according to their captain Lorenzo Insigne, the team would definitely welcome James' arrival in order to make a run at the Serie A and finally dethrone their nemesis Juventus:
"The doors are open for strong players, we welcome them all. James Rodriguez is a true number 10, he has quality and together with us he would be great. Those choices, however, are up to the coach and the club," Insigne told Radio Kiss Kiss.
James has always thrived under Ancelotti's tutelage, first at Real Madrid and then with Bayern Munchen, so he also must be looking forward at a reunion with the manager that has always trusted him and helped him become one of the most prolific playmakers in Europe.
Moreover, Insigne talked about the high hopes the team has ahead of next season, considering they already have a top-tier defender like Kalidou Koulibaly and one of the best managers in the world:
"The Scudetto is everyone's dream. In the past few years, we have come close and we have been disappointed. I'm convinced that if we all play with this determination we can cause trouble for anyone. We know we have a great competitor like Juve in front of us, but things could change this season with the new coach (at Juve, former Napoli boss Maurizio Sarri). I think we are getting stronger, but we have to start off on the right foot because we have the potential to fight at the top," he concluded.
