The summer transfer window is a couple of hours away from its closure, and the biggest saga of the offseason hasn’t been solved yet. Barcelona finally made a written offer for Neymar this week, but Paris Saint-Germain sporting director stated there was no agreement reached between the two sides.
This is a hot topic during these days and everybody wants to give their takes on this matter, including Neymar’s former teammate Luis Suarez, who discussed a potential return to Camp Nou for the Brazilian forward. Suarez and Neymar share touches at the Camp Nou between 2014 and 2017, with the two players forming a terrific frontline with Lionel Messi.
Even though they were very successful together, Neymar decided to call it quits and lead a team on his own, which is why he joined PSG in 2017. Earlier this week, Gerard Pique spoke about Ney, claiming that he’d like to see him come back and that the club was ‘working hard’ on a deal.
Now it was the turn of Suarez, who voiced his opinion to Uruguayan radio station Sport 890 (via Marca), claiming:
"I know it's a difficult time for Neymar. He must be left alone with his people to decide what he wants."
The transfer window deadline is set to strike on Monday, so Barcelona have little time to complete a move for the forward. Moreover, recent reports suggest a deal is looking unlikely as both clubs are unwilling to move in their valuations and Barcelona may not return with a further offer.
Suarez had the chance to talk about his own future with the club, making it clear that he’s not thinking of leaving Barca this summer, as he’s only focused on winning with the club.
"At no point did I ever consider leaving Barcelona...I am there to help the club, I am at the best team in the world."
Even if Neymar doesn’t land in Barcelona this summer, the club has a very good roster; they did some good additions this offseason that keep them as the favorites to win everything this season.
