The often-controversial Mauro Icardi has once again stolen most of the headlines, and not because of his goal-scoring, but because of his off-pitch antics.
Apparently, the Argentinean has decided to skip the trip with Inter's upcoming Europa League clash against Rapid Vienna.
The news was confirmed by Luciano Spalletti himself, who stated the striker choose not to travel with the Nerazzurri for this Thursday's matchup.
Despite his personal success and incredible talent, Icardi's relationship with Inter has always been complicated, to say the least, and now that the 25-year-old lost his captaincy in favor of Samir Handanovic, he rathered skip the game instead of earning Spaletti's trust back.
"Icardi was called up and has decided not to travel to Vienna. Tomorrow we have a big game, there will be time to clarify things. It has been a tough, painful decision which he probably has not taken well, made with the team's well-being in mind. The things going on around Icardi have disturbed us, both him and the team which he used to captain. But we think it is for the best on the pitch, from the next game onwards. We hope that the players react properly," Spaletti told Sky Sports.
Moreover, Wanda Nara, Icardi's wife and agent seem keen to have his loverboy out of Italy as soon as possible, with Real Madrid closely following his footsteps.
Throughout his Inter career, the Argentinean has netted 122 goals in 210 appearances for the Nerazzurri, but it looks like the relationship is now broken beyond repair.
