It looks like Mauro Icardi can't help but look for attention every time he has the slightest chance to do so, as controversy really fuels his best performances.
The striker is one of the most prolific goal-scorers in the world, but his antics off the court and his wife's remarks have often put him in the wrong side of the media and his team's supporters.
Icardi refused to travel with the team for a UEFA Europea League matchup earlier in the season because he was no longer Inter's captain, and speculation started to grow regarding a potential summer exit, with his wife and agent Wanda Nara claiming that he deserved better and the team didn't know how to make the most of his talents.
However, Icardi has given up on his desire to leave San Siro in the summer and is now kind of begging for mercy and claiming that he wants to continue his career with the Nerazzurri, as he revealed on his Instagram Stories:
“Because recently the media have reported news that does not reflect my thoughts, I want to inform our fans that I have repeatedly informed Inter about my will to remain with the club. Hopefully, now there will be no more misunderstandings. I understand the interests of the press in selling fake news so I would rather clarify things personally. I have already expressed the will to stay because Inter is my family. Time will reveal who is speaking the truth. Forza Inter, always," Icardi concluded.
The Argentinean was heavily linked with a move to either Real Madrid or FC Barcelona, a couple of teams that have been following his steps quite closely for a very long time.
Now, whether the team is willing to give him yet another chance is yet to be seen, but we can rest assured of the fact that we'll definitely hear from him again any time soon.
