Michael Owen And Alan Shearer Get Into Twitter Feud Over Newcastle

Alan Shearer and Michael Owen were once considered as two of the most prolific strikers in the world, so every single Newcastle United fan was ecstatic when they joined forces with the Magpies.

Shearer was already a Newcastle legend when Owen joined the team following a failed stint with Real Madrid to try and get his career back from the ground.

Owen, however, later opened up about his stint with the team, claiming he regretted the move as his heart was leaning towards coming back to Liverpool, the club where he had started his career:

"Liverpool couldn't match Newcastle's offer. From a career perspective, there was no doubt in my mind that a move to the North East was a downward step. I could hear Newcastle fans, my fans, singing 'what a waste of money!' as I'm being stretchered off. I can't deny their actions that day changed things for me. No longer was I even going to attempt to ingratiate me with the fans. Instead, I flipped it in a slightly more resentful way thinking, I don't need to justify myself to f#cking Newcastle fans," Owen told The Mirror.

Obviously, those words weren't kind to Shearer's ears, him being a diehard Newcastle fan, so he took it to Twitter to call Owen out because of his harsh words for his time with the club despite his huge salary:

“Yes Michael, we thought that also, whilst on £120k a week," Shearer posted on his Twitter account.

Owen wouldn't hold back and didn't hesitate to respond with some tough words of his own, claiming Shearer isn't as loyal to Newcastle as he claims to be and that he was even pushing for a move out of the club:

“Not sure you are as loyal to Newcastle as you make out, mate. I distinctly remember you being inches away from signing for Liverpool after Sir Bobby Robson put you on the bench. You tried everything to get out," Owen wrote.

Knowing both of these guys, we can be sure that there's still way too much to come to this story, so stay tuned, as we'll update this story as they continue to hit back at each other.
