Barcelona supporters were craving for Neymar Jr to finally complete his comeback to the team after the Brazilian publically admitted that he was sorry about leaving in the first place.
Neymar openly talked about his desire to leave Paris Saint-Germain, a team where he has never been happy, and all signs pointed towards a potential reunion at Camp Nou.
However, Josep Maria Bartomeu, Barcelona's president, pretty much put all those rumors at ease during his latest press conference, shutting the door on a potential Neymar comeback.
"We know that (Neymar) wants to leave PSG, we know that, but we also know PSG do not want him to go. There is no way. Do we want him to come? We don't talk about players from other teams, we have the maximum respect as an institution. There is nothing we can do," Bartomeu claimed.
Also, he went on to claim that Ousmane Dembele was more than capable of filling his shoes and playing on the left flank as Neymar used to do before leaving, also denying any rumors about his potential departure:
"(Dembele) is a young talented player, different from the rest in the football world. He is already a football star, he has a future and we want him at Barca," the chairman added.
Later, Bartomeu went on to clarify that the rumors suggesting Lionel Messi was pushing the team towards signing Neymar again were completely false:
"I heard that from the press, but Messi does not ask for players. He wants to play, he wants a good, competitive team, but the decisions are always down to club officials," Bartomeu concluded.
Real Madrid were also reportedly interested in Neymar's services, but so far, it looks like the Brazilian superstar is going to be forced to run out his deal at Parc des Princes even if he doesn't want to.
