Real Madrid are looking to strengthen their ranks ahead of this upcoming season, as Zinedine Zidane is going to have a huge budget for the summer transfer window in order to lure the best talents in the world to Santiago Bernabeu.
One of the players that have been linked with a move to Real Madrid for quite a long time is Neymar, with reports claiming that the Brazilian had joined Paris Saint-Germain just to make a move to Spain's capital afterward.
However, former Brazil and Real Madrid legend Ronaldo thinks that's quite unlikely, and that he won't be joining Real Madrid, at least for the time being:
“I do not know about Neymar. It has been dragging on for many years. There are many rumors, but I do not think there is anything concrete with Real Madrid. He is an incredible player that anyone would like to have. But, from what I see, he’s not on the market," Ronaldo claimed during a private event, as reported by Mundo Deportivo.
Moreover, O Fenomeno talked about all the criticism Neymar has faced throughout his career and had his back, claiming he's been mistreated by the media along the years:
“In soccer, there has always been a lot of criticism. I have even been criticized, most unfairly. We cannot do anything about it. I see him as a very intelligent kid, an extraordinary talent, and wanting to have continuity again. He had two serious injuries that reduced his game time, and that opened the window of controversy to him when not being on the field. You have time to do other things and, as young people, life goes on. The vast majority of criticism is unfair. I believe in him and I'm sure he will turn his situation around," he concluded.
Neymar is one of the most talented and controversial athletes in the world, and while he may not fit Zidane's standards in terms of personality, he'd be a major boost for a Real Madrid team desperately craving new faces.
