Neymar’s Future In The Air After Harsh Words From Paris Saint-Germain President

Even though he’s not close to the end of his contract and his team has stated on several occasions that he’s not for sale this summer, Neymar Jr. is a recurrent topic around the football world both for his actions on the pitch and his antics outside of it. Even though he’s considered the biggest start of Paris Saint-Germain at this very moment, the Brazilian forward might be heading through the exit door of Parc des Prince in the near future.

After becoming the most expensive football transfer back in 2017, it looks like PSG, the team that paid €222 million to get the Brazilian, have had enough of him, with the president of the team stating they won’t accept more ‘celebrity behavior’ from their players.

Last season they won the Ligue 1 once again but were eliminated by Manchester United in the Champions League round of 16, failing again to win the continental trophy, something that started a wave of problems for Les Parisiens.

But, Neymar hasn’t been the only one creating trouble for the club, as Kylian Mbappe stated in May that he’d like to find a new challenge, Thomas Meunier has admitted he would be open to leaving Paris and with Adrien Rabiot refusing to sign a new contract with the club and admitting he held talks with Juventus over a transfer, it was expected that such a situation would drive the club chairman crazy.

Club owner Nasser Al-Khelaifi wants to see a change in the way their players behave next season after the chaotic one everybody had in Paris this year.

"The players will have to assume their responsibilities even more than before. It must be completely different," the club president told France Football.

"They will have to do more, work more. They are not there to please themselves.

"And if they do not agree, the doors are open, ciao! I do not want to have any celebrity behavior anymore."

Even though he didn’t point out directly to anybody, people started to think those statements were aimed at the Brazilian superstar, who was highly criticized for his antics throughout the season. Now we have to wait how this is going to end given that newly-appointed Sporting director Leonardo has blocked a Neymar comeback move to Barcelona and his future remains uncertain.
