One of the best players in the Ligue 1, who doesn’t play for Paris Saint-Germain, Nicolas Pepe is expected to leave his team Lille OSC this summer and take his talents to a better team and a better league, with some Premier League sides rumored to be the next destination for the 24-year-old.
However, things aren’t that easy for the English squads, who could be snubbed by Pepe this summer. Manchester United and Liverpool were keeping tabs on Pepe, sending scouts to see the winger throughout the season, but it looks now like the Ivorian will decide to go elsewhere instead of the island.
According to The Mirror, the decision has been taken out of Man. Utd. and Liverpool's hands, with £70 million-rated Pepe favoring a move to German side Bayern Munich. The Bavarians are also said to be keen on signing Leroy Sané from Manchester City after they missed the chance to get the Germany international's signature while he was still part of Schalke. Still, even though a Sane move is likely for the Germans, now they look like the frontrunners to sign Pepe.
Nevertheless, even if Nicolas shows his disposition to join the Teutons, perhaps those aren’t the plans for the Bundesliga champions, as Sport Bild have been linking Liverpool's Sadio Mané with a move to the Allianz Arena in recent times. Yet, if they fail at signing Sane and Mane this summer, they would find a great piece in Pepe, who has shown all the best of his game in France and now would like to face a bigger challenge.
It would be the best choice given the fact that they don’t have the financial muscle that Premier League sides have and that would complicate things for the Muniquese.
