Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane has received a lot of criticism from Paris Saint-Germain director Leonardo after the French boss made some bold statements about Kylian Mbappe and a potential approach for the starlet.
The young forward has been linked with a move to Real ever since he introduced himself to the elite during his days with Monaco. It’s been reported that Madrid will try to make a move for the Frenchman, but Zidane’s latest comments about a potential move have infuriated Leonardo.
BBC Sport report that the sporting director was anything but happy about Zidane’s comments in a news conference, where he said that it was Mbappe's 'dream' to play for Real Madrid. Making such a bold statement, the backlash was expected.
"Honestly, it's a bit irritating, it's annoying. It's not the first time this has happened. Kylian is a very important player for us. Now is not the time to destabilize him,” Leonardo said.
These comments come a couple of weeks away from Madrid’s crucial game against Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League, with Los Blancos still trying to qualify for the last-16 round of the competition.
"I think that now is not the time to talk about this," Leonardo continued. "He is a player who has two and a half years left on his contract with us, so to talk about what he wants, his 'dream', every time...if we can just stop this, pause this talk."
Les Parisiens are currently trying to retain Mbappe with a new contract, but interest from clubs like Madrid, Liverpool and Manchester City or Juventus makes this a hard job to carry out for the French multiple-champions.
