Albeit Real Madrid are almost finished doing their summer signings, their fans are already excited to see what Los Blancos are going to do next year, as one of the most promising and talented players in Europe may be making his way to the Santiago Bernabeu.
After ruling out a move for Brazilian forward Neymar, Madrid have put all their attention to sign Ney’s teammate at Paris Saint-Germain, Kylian Mbappe. The 20-year-old has had good moments with Les Parisiens, but it looks like his times at the Parc des Princes will come to its next year with his new destination being rumored to be the Spanish capital.
To make things worse for the club and their fans, Paris Saint-Germain sporting director Leonardo has claimed he can’t promise the talented forward is going to sign a new contract with the club.
He still has another three years left on his current PSG contract after his loan from Monaco became a permanent €180 million deal last summer, but the player’s statements that he could look for a 'new project' in the future have set on the alarms for PSG.
Speaking to Le Parisien, Leonardo stated Mbappe was a 'priority' for PSG and praised the youngster when he arrived for the first day of pre-season training on Monday. Yet, the Brazilian official was unable to say something definite when asked about a new deal.
"I never make promises," he explained.
"For two reasons - firstly because I am not the person who is responsible for everything that happens at this club and secondly, I don't want to throw promises up into the air without being sure that they can be kept. I'm only interested in reality, and what we know for sure today."
Real Madrid must be excited about Leonardo’s statements. They see Mbappe as their top target for the 2020 summer transfer window and as the days go by, the World Cup winner looks closer to a move to Spain.
