Ever since the rumors of Antoine Griezmann making a move to FC Barcelona started surfacing, there were reports claiming Lionel Messi wasn't happy about his arrival.
Messi and Griezmann are rumored to be on different pages, something that's been going on for years as they've been hardnosed rivals since his days at Atletico de Madrid.
However, Barcelona great Gerard Pique went on to dismiss the rumors of a so-called feud between both of them, claiming it's not true that Messi has a bad relationship with Griezmann like it wasn't true in the past with former Barcelona players either:
"Here, we magnify everything very much. Leo and Grizi get along, the same as Leo and (Ousmane) Dembele get along, or Leo with Pedro or (David) Villa. It's good. With Luis (Suarez and Messi), they are almost like brothers. Just because he doesn't get along (with Griezmann) as he does with Luis doesn't mean they get along badly," the center back told Cadena SER.
Griezmann has stepped up as the team's go-to-guy when Messi was forced to miss time with an injury, developing some strong rapport with wonderkid Ansu Fati and Luis Suarez as well.
However, everybody knows Barcelona is Messi's team, so it's unlikely that Josep Maria Bartomeu or Ernesto Valverde would've signed a player without getting his approval.
Barcelona are trying to get back from their last year's failure in the UEFA Champions League and the last thing they need right now is a feud in their locker room, especially after making such a huge investment to snub the Frenchman out of Wanda Metropolitano.
The Blaugrana are currently leading the race for the La Liga trophy once again, with 22 points - 1 more than Real Madrid - and are looking forward to extending their lead over their lifelong rivals, but El Clasico had to be postponed due to political conflicts in the city.
