French multiple champions Paris Saint-Germain have apparently found a proper replacement for Italian goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon. Despite Gigi says the club has offered him a new contract, some reports indicate that maybe Gigi’s spot in the team is not as secured as we think it is.
According to AS, Les Parisiens would be interested in signing France national team and Tottenham Hotspurs’ goalkeeper and captain, Hugo Lloris, in the summer. They already count with Buffon, Alphonse Areola and Kevin Trapp (on loan at Eintracht Frankfurt) within their ranks, but that doesn’t seem enough for the French, who are keen to acquire Lloris’ services as soon as possible.
PSG has been rumored to have interest in other goalies beside Lloris such as David de Gea, Keylor Navas, and Gianluigi Donnarumma, but now everything points out that they’re all in for the Spurs’ keeper. Lloris has been one of the best goalkeepers in European football a couple of years now; he won the FIFA World Cup last year with French and this season he’s opting for another major trophy as his Tottenham will be playing the Champions League final next June 1 against Liverpool.
This is a player who has played for important things and knows how to win and that’s precisely what PSG needs now if they want to be successful at a continental level. AS also says landing Hugo would be easier than landing the other mentioned players; he might be cheaper than De Gea and Donnarumma.
Besides, Hugo’s third childbirth is imminent and his family has been considering returning to his natal France seven years after he left Olympique Lyonnais and now believes he has 'completed a cycle' in England, which is set to finish with the aforementioned Tottenham's first ever Champions League final against Liverpool.
We’re not sure on how PSG will manage to have Buffon and Lloris in the same team, as they are two top goaltenders who are used to play the majority of games for their teams.
