Bayern Munich are keen to make some splash this summer transfer window and right now one of their top targets is none other than Manchester City and the German national side star Leroy Sane, who’s been on the radar of the Bavarian for the last couple of months, but so far we haven't seen any serious move by the Germans.
However, in Allianz Arena, there are several people confident that the German international is going to sign with the current Bundesliga champions, and is only a matter of time before we see him playing under Niko Kovac. For instance, Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski claims the German players of the club are “very much looking forward” to Leroy Sane signing with the Bavarians.
Despite the fact that he only started 21 games in the Premier League last term for Pep Guardiola’s side, Sane has been followed by the German giants ever since he made the move from Schalke to Manchester a couple of seasons ago, regretting not having signed him when they had the chance. Well, football always gives rematch and this looks like the one for the Teutons.
City want to re-sign Sane, but that didn’t prevent Bayern president Uli Hoeness to confirm they were interested in signing the 23-year-old in May, before admitting that a deal would be unlikely this summer because of the price they would have to pay to get the winger. Still, they haven’t ruled out a move for the German forward, and according to Lewandowski, some of his teammates are pretty sure that Sane will land in Munich this summer.
"Bayern's German players are now very much looking forward to Sane's signing, but we have to wait and see what is going on," Lewandowski told Goal.
Discussing the departure of Arjen Robben and Franck Ribery, Lewandoski added: “They are legends, of course their departure is sad.
"But Bayern will also sign more and better replacements. I believe that the winger Bayern will sign in the future will be as good as Robben and Ribery.
"In order to have a good performance next season and to overcome Dortmund, I hope that Bayern can do something in the transfer market this summer."
Sane is the favorite one to arrive in Germany this offseason, even though Bayern have been linked with the likes of Nicolas Pepe, Gareth Bale, and Callum Hudson-Odoi after the departure of their most important wingers at the end of last season. We only have to wait and see if they will let slip the chance to sign Sane again.
