Thomas Tuchel already knows his top priority for his Paris Saint Germain ahead of this transfer window: Borussia Dortmund’s Julian Weigl.
Tuchel has constantly addressed the midfield situation, even though the club is going through a historic run in Ligue 1, France’s top-tier soccer league.
Weigl was one of Tuchel’s go-to-guys at the center of the pitch when he was still in charge of Dortmund before joining the French Champions, but he’s fallen out of the pecking order now that Lucien Favre’s on command.
The 23-year-old would love to play under Tuchel’s tutelage once again, even if that means missing on the chance to win the Bundesliga with Borussia Dortmund, currently sitting at the top of the league.
So, according to ESPN sources, the French giants are bound to spend as much as 30 million € to land the German international, should Dortmund be convinced about letting him go.
PSG bosses have recognised Tuchel's need for a No. 6 to partner Marco Verratti and ease the pressure on defender Marquinhos, who has often been used in midfield, and the club are aware that Weigl is keen to work under his former coach again.
However, per another source, the problem for PSG is convincing Dortmund to let Weigl leave now.
Tuchel is keen to take some pressure off of Marquinhos’ shoulders as he finds a defensive minded partner for Marco Verratti at the center of the pitch.
Over the course of the season, Weigl has made just 9 appearances for Dortmund, scoring one goal in 240 minutes.
