Juventus currently count with a bunch of players in the midfield, so it’s not a surprise if the Serie A champions want to get rid of some of them to have the right amount of players for the season.
Right now they have in central midfield alone, the likes of Aaron Ramsey, Miralem Pjanic, Adrien Rabiot, Emre Can, Blaise Matuidi, Sami Khedira and Rodrigo Bentancur, thus somebody needs to be sold this summer.
Luckily for Juve, Barcelona have shown interest in one of their assets and reports from Italy claim that the Blaugrana are in ‘advanced talks’ to sign Rodrigo Bentancur.
Knowing Maurizio Sarri’s tactics, there could be only three of those players in the starting XI so it makes sense that a player like Bentancur could be heading through the exit door. According to Gazzetta Dello Sport (via ForzaItalianfootball), Barca are getting close to signing the Uruguayan for a fee of around €60 million.
The report also notes that Barca have been interested in him since 2018. Moreover, they also state that Boca Juniors would be owed 50% of his next transfer fee so this could result in a huge windfall for the Argentinian side. Bentancur is seen as one of the most promising players in his position right now; at only 22, the Uruguay international has made 66 appearances for Juventus since signing in 2017.
His signing could be huge for Barca as they continue to rebuild their midfield after landing Frenkie de Jong from Ajax last January. Barcelona have lost Xavi and Andres Iniesta in recent years, and players like Ivan Rakitic or Sergio Busquets aren’t getting any younger, and Bentancur could be a good player in the Camp Nou.
This guy is young and has played for two of the best clubs in the world already in Boca Juniors and Juventus. He won’t be a marquee signing but can be incredibly helpful for the Spanish giants.
