Antoine Griezmann’s tenure in Barcelona didn’t start as he and his new team expected, with the Frenchman struggling to find his best shape, and even worse, falling to connect with Barca’s talisman Lionel Messi.
It’s been reported that Griezmann doesn’t have the best relationship with Messi, and that could lead the Blaugrana to part ways with the French forward, using him to land Neymar, a player who was heavily linked with a move to the Camp Nou in recent months. Barca could use Griezmann as a makeweight in a potential move for Ney.
As stated before, his relationship with Messi is complex, with the World Cup winner admitting that he has rarely spoken with the Argentinian star since his arrival, and has also endured a mixed start to life at his new club.
According to Le10sport, Barcelona could once again turn their attention to reunite with Paris Saint-Germain forward Neymar and the Griezmann situation could help them complete the move. Despite having scored three times since he moved to Catalonia, Antoine hasn’t found his place in Ernesto Valverde’s starting lineup, which has raised a lot of concerns around the player.
“It has been difficult to get to know each other,” Griezmann said ahead of Barca’s victory over Inter earlier this week when asked about his connection with Messi.
“Neither of us are individuals who like to talk a lot, and he has spent a lot of time injured - so we have not been able to work together a lot on the training pitch.”
Added to Messi, Luis Suarez is also reportedly rooting for Barcelona to make a move for Neymar. We might be seeing Griezmann leaving the club after only one season and one of the biggest sagas of the last summer.
