Barcelona are working to find a solution for one of the biggest sagas of the summer, as they are reportedly aiming to land Neymar on loan for the season, with a mandatory option to buy at the end of the deal. However, Paris Saint-Germain remain resistant to let the Brazilian go until they sign a replacement.
Reuniting with Neymar this summer has been one of the top priorities for Barcelona, but things look difficult right now. Paris Saint-Germain are still reluctant to lower their €222 million asking price, which has certainly made things harder for the La Liga champions. Now with the departure of Philippe Coutinho to Bayern Munich, they need to put even more effort to strike a deal for the winger.
Having already signed the likes of Antoine Griezzman and Frenkie de Jong on expensive deals, it’s clear that Barcelona can’t afford Neymar, much less after the Coutinho deal. Following this, Sport claim Barca are ready to push for a loan, with an obligation to sign Neymar permanently next year.
PSG are believed to prefer to receive the money right away, but seeing that the chances for that to happen are lower as the days go by, agreeing to offload Neymar on a loan deal could be the best option for them.
Moreover, Zinedine Zidane has asked Real Madrid’s hierarchy to avoid signing Neymar this offseason, which leaves Barcelona as the only option for the Brazilian.
Thomas Tuchel recently claimed that, in order to sell Neymar, PSG first need to find a replacement, who could be in Italy, as Paulo Dybala appears to be the best option to take the reins of the team once Neymar is gone.
Speaking in a press conference (via Goal), Tuchel said:
"[Neymar] will not leave without recruitment, it is not possible. It's clear - if he stays, we will have a player who will help us win."
Things start to look clearer for every party involved in this situation. PSG have accepted the fact that Neymar won’t continue playing with them, but now they have to make a move before sending the Brazilian star to Catalonia.
