Transfer Rumors: Barcelona Target 'Reaches Agreement' To Join Paris Saint-Germain

Albeit Barcelona look as favorite to sign some of the best players in European football, the Catalans haven’t confirmed any signing yet and that situation opens the door for other major clubs to make some noise and put some pressure on them, as we have learned with Matthijs de Ligt and one of their top targets for the summer, Antoine Griezmann.

The Atletico Madrid forward has been linked with a move to Barcelona for several seasons now, but nothing has happened between they two and now other teams are trying to steal the Frenchman from the Blaugrana hands.

Last season Griezmann snubbed a move to Camp Nou and decided to sign a new deal with Atletico, but a year after that, he stated his desire to leave Los Rojiblancos with Barcelona links surfacing again. Griezmann himself has recently stated that he already knows where he will be playing next season, and Sport suggests that his new team will be none other than Paris Saint-Germain.

The World Cup winner is said to fear that key members of Barcelona's roster, as well as the fans, are against signing him after the way he acted last summer, and he does not want to walk into a hostile environment; there were even reports indicating the players had vetoed a Griezmann move.

Sport also adds that Griezmann has already met with PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi to negotiate the deal, with the Parisians eager to replace Edinson Cavani with the former Real Sociedad star. Cavani has been rumored to leave Les Parisiens this summer and some say his next destination could be Atletico, to replace Griezmann.

Barcelona were thought to pay Antoine’s €120 million release clause on July 1, but now it looks like Griezmann does not believe that a switch to Camp Nou may be the best move for him.
