Barcelona and Juventus have had a very entertaining offseason, landing big names that will make them a real threat to everybody in their respective countries and overseas. Moreover, the two European giants are reportedly working on completing a swap deal involving two of their best midfielders.
The Blaugrana and the Bianconeri are reportedly in ongoing discussions over the possibility of Ivan Rakitic and Emre Can swapping clubs this summer. None of the players were part of their teams’ respective starting line-ups at the weekend as they were forced to see the game from the bench.
Those situations have fueled speculation about the future of the two stars, with the transfer window set to close next Monday, and Italians and Spanish keen to complete a deal. According to Sport Mediaset, Barcelona and Juventus are continuing talks over a possible swap deal involving the pair of midfielders.
Rakitic has been one of the most important players in Barcelona’s ranks since he made it from Sevilla, proving his quality every week and demonstrating how helpful he can be in the big games. Juventus are well aware of that, as Rakitic scored the first goal in the 2015 Champions League final that saw Barcelona defeat Juve 3-1.
On the other hand, Can was one of the most active players for the Old Lady last season after moving on a free from Liverpool. However, the change in coach with Maurizio Sarri replacing Massimiliano Allegri this summer has altered the German international’s position in the club and now is seemingly set to drop down the pecking order in Turin.
If both of them aren’t part of their respective coaches’ plans, a swap deal is the best choice for them and their clubs. We still have one week to know should this move goes through, with Mediaset noting that the possibility of a swap deal isn’t being ruled out.
