Spanish giants Barcelona keep looking for a new striker to reinforce the attack and rotate with Uruguayan Luis Suarez. The Blaugrana have been linked with plenty of names in the last few weeks, including the likes of Arsenal’s Alexandre Lacazette and Valencia striker Rodrigo Moreno, but now their attention is turning to another asset who can boost their level instantly.
Manchester United’s starlet Marcus Rashford has been on Barcelona’s wishlist for quite a while and now a move to Catalonia could be in the making for the English youngster. According to Sport, Barcelona have identified Rashford as the perfect solution to their problem and have now opened negotiations with United trying to sign the 21-year-old, who is valued at around €100m.
Rashford’s current deal is set to expire in 2020 and he hasn’t signed an extension with the Red Devils yet, something that could give hope to Barcelona. Man. Utd. have the option to extend Rashford contract by a further year, just as they did with goalkeeper David de Gea, albeit they could be forced to sell instead of risking losing Rashford next summer for nothing.
Still, they will have to try their luck to keep the wonderkid on board, who is one of the best products of their academy. He has rejected United's offer of a new five-year deal, and Barcelona can take advantage of that and force United to sell Marcus.
Club president Josep Maria Bartomeu has had a good relationship with United executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward, whom he talked about both Rashford and Paul Pogba in the past, and some people in Catalonia think that can make things work for Barcelona.
