Even though Luis Suarez looks like he’s recovering his best form, Barcelona are still trying to find alternatives to the Uruguayan striker. The Blaugrana have already put some names on their shortlist for a replacement for Suarez, which is full of forwards who are tearing it up in Europe at this very moment.
According to Spanish outlet AS, one of Barcelona’s main priorities in next summer’s transfer window will be to sign another striker, with the La Liga champions reportedly eyeing a forward between the ages of 20 and 26.
That said, AS claims that Inter Milan’s Lautaro Martinez, PSV’s Donyell Malen, AC Milan’s Rafael Leao, and Lille’s Victor Osimhen are on the club’s radar for the summer of 2020. It’s also added that the Catalans will try to sign a striker in the January window to alternate with Suarez at the Camp Nou.
Lautaro Martinez is the highest-profile name on the list, as Don Balon understand the Argentinean youngster’s price tag is at about €56 million. Calciomercato adds that former Arsenal academy star Malen is being valued at around €56 million by PSV.
Leao’s and Osimhen’s values haven’t been reported yet, but they won’t leave their respective clubs for a cheap price. According to Goal, AC Milan signed Leao from Lille for €35 million, while Lille signed Osimhen for about €12m according to Get French Football News.
Having all these numbers in mind, Barcelona’s prime targets are worth a minimum of a combined €158 million.
Each of these players has had a terrific start to the season, and the Blaugrana are ready to acquire their services as soon as they have the chance. It remains to be seen if the signing of any of these players would mean Antoine Griezmann would play on the flanks or any of them would serve as a backup for the Frenchman at the center of the attack.
