Chelsea are ready to go with everything they have once their transfer ban is over. The Blues have set their sights on Olympique Lyonnais striker Moussa Dembele to bolster their attack, but they’ll face fierce competition from England rivals Manchester United.

Dembele has been a target for Manchester United for some time now and was watched by a scout from the Old Trafford side on Saturday night as he scored against Toulouse. However, now Chelsea are exploring ways to get this signature next summer, according to the Daily Mail.

United see Dembele as a good option for the January transfer window as they’re keen to land one striker to help the struggling Marcus Rashford and Mason Greenwood. Nevertheless, Lyon might want to hold onto Dembele until the summer trying to get more money for their star.

Moreover, Moussa seems comfortable under new manager Rudi Garcia, something that didn’t happen with previous boss Sylvinho, so a move in January sounds unlikely.

That situation could help Chelsea, who are in the middle of a transfer ban that will likely last until the summer window. They’ll take their appeal over the ban to the Court of Arbitration for Sport in November, with a verdict set to be given before the January transfer window.

Frank Lampard could lose Olivier Giroud and Michy Batshuayi by then, leaving Tammy Abraham as their only senior striker. They have had a good start to the season under Lampard, but they will need more assets to try and compete for a spot in the Champions League.

Dembele has been drawing a lot of attention in recent times and Chelsea is just another of his potential destinations. It remains to be seen if the player decides to go to Old Trafford, Stamford Bridge or any other stadium, as it seems like his tenure with Lyon is coming to an end.
