Although they entered the summer transfer window with the lowest budget of the so-called Premier League top six, Arsenal are still making noise this offseason and they don’t plan on stopping until the deadline comes.
Having already secured three good signings, the Gunners are confident to strike a deal for Celtic’s starlet Kieran Tierney and will try to make one last push for the left-back.
Besides, their boss Unai Emery has claimed that the North Londoners will make another signing once Tierney is locked up. Laurent Koscielny recently departed to Bordeaux, leaving Arsenal a little short of personnel in the center of the defense.
"If we can on the last day, we will try to sign another center-back, but one who has the capacity to help us," Emery said.
"We have a lot of defensive players. Maybe it is different when Laurent Koscielny tells us he wanted to leave.
"We are finding the possibility to add another center-back, but only if he can help us in our performance. We are working on that.
"I'm happy with our defensive players. We are working in the last minute, we are also taking the possibility that we can add some more players who can help us with good performance.
"We tried to sign some important, expensive players for our defense. But when we can't do that, the second line players don't really convince us to sign them."
Good thing for Arsenal is that one of their candidates is reportedly pushing for a move to the Emirates Stadium. According to Sky Sports, Chelsea’s David Luiz is keen to sign with the Gunners this summer and has decided to train away from his teammates on Wednesday trying to force his club to let him go.
It was reported that the Brazilian defender was tracked down by Arsenal over the summer, but so far there hasn’t been any formal offer for him. Moreover, Chelsea are reluctant to sell him given their current transfer ban, as they would not be able to sign a replacement for David this offseason. He is under contract with the Blues until 2021 after signing an extension last campaign.
If Arsenal manage to land both Tierney and Luiz before the deadline strikes, they would be one of the biggest winners of the summer without any hesitation.
