After failing to reach their biggest goal this campaign, Juventus are set to make some blockbuster moves this offseason in order to improve their level and being finally able to win the lusted Champions League trophy. Not even signing Cristiano Ronaldo made them win the competition this year as they got knocked out by Ajax in quarter-finals, leaving a poor image.
Now that’s in the past and, the Old Lady is ready to take it all next season and they are already working on their reinforcements. They are planning to make a big splash in the summer transfer window and even some of their players are helping them to persuade their desired assets to join the club.
Juve’s frontman Cristiano Ronaldo has recently been in contact with former Real Madrid teammate James Rodriguez trying to convince the Colombian to join him in Italy. James just finished his second year on loan at Bayern Munich, but this season he wasn’t precisely the favorite player for manager Niko Kovac, and now it’s very unlikely that the club will exercise the option to sign the 27-year-old on a permanent deal.
According to German outlet Sport Bild, CR7 has been trying to recruit Rodriguez to Turin in recent days. James will be making his comeback to Madrid this summer, but there is nothing for him there, as Zinedine Zidane never planned on giving the playmaker an important role in his team. Therefore, now with the Frenchman back as Los Blancos manager, he knows what his fate will be like in Spain.
Juventus have embraced Ronaldo's attempts to persuade Rodriguez to join them, as they see the Colombian midfielder as a very good addition this summer. Another thing that could help the Zebras is the fact that both Ronaldo and Rodriguez share the same agent in Jorge Mendes, so that could make everything easier.
However, if they are serious about landing James, Juventus need to move fast. Serie A rivals Napoli have been in contact with the former Porto star as well, with AS claiming that the Parthenopeans are all in about a Rodriguez's move since manager Carlo Ancelotti, who managed James in both Real Madrid and Bayern, is very interested in his talents. According to the report, the only thing that needs to be decided to send James to San Paolo is his transfer fee.
