This Serie A season couldn’t start a better way for Internazionale, who are the current leaders of the competition, winning their first six games. Even though things look good for them in Italy, the case is different in Europe, where they’ve been unable to win their first game of the season.

During the Champions League opener, they tied 1-1 with Slavia Prague at home, before losing against Barcelona this week. Inter boss Antonio Conte knows his team is good, but they still need to reinforce their ranks to have a good performance in both competitions.

The Nerazzurri are reportedly planning to go after Lazio star Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, one player that’s been gaining a lot of attention in recent campaigns. The Serbian midfielder was linked with Manchester United and Real Madrid over the summer, but now his next destination could be Internazionale.

According to Calciomercato, via the paper edition of Tuttosport, it’s suggested that Inter could use the funds raised from the sale of Gabriel Barbosa, who is currently on loan in Flamengo, and put that towards trying to lure Milinkovic-Savic away from Lazio in the winter transfer window.

Barbosa is on loan at Flamengo until December 31, and Inter is hoping the Brazilian side make the move permanent or see if his good performances can convince a different club to sign him once he finishes his tenure with Fla.

Last season Milinkovic-Savic wasn’t the most spectacular player of all, but that didn’t prevent Manchester United, Juventus and Real Madrid to show interest in him. This campaign, though, he’s been quite good with Lazio, recording two goals and four assists in eight appearances across all competitions this campaign.

This guy is a complete midfielder, who could be very useful for Antonio Conte. Yet, it remains to be seen if they can offload Barbosa, and if Lazio decide to sell the Serbian player in the middle of the season.
