According to reports from Spain, Lionel Messi has vetoed two Barcelona moves for two strikers, as he wants to reunite with Neymar Jr. in Catalonia.

Barcelona are struggling to replace injured Luis Suarez and now things have gotten worse as Messi is reportedly shutting down potential new signings.

It’s fair to say that the Spanish press is known for either being pretty accurate or extremely wide of the mark when it comes to transfer reports. Therefore, it would be huge if this happens to be true.

Lionel Messi has some power in Barcelona, and it’s fair to say that his opinion matters when it comes to new additions. That said, a report from Don Balon provides the latest of Barca’s search for a new striker after Luis Suarez picked up a bad injury, but it looks like Messi wants the club to stick by his friend.

They claim that Barca were looking to sign either Rodrigo Moreno from Valencia or Lautaro Martinez from Inter Milan but Messi has vetoed both deals. It looks like the Argentinian forward is trying to save Suarez’s spot in the starting XI when he comes back from injury, while also saving their money to bring Neymar back to the club next Summer.

Although he’s been great this season, Messi is entering his final years playing at the highest level. Obviously, the club should do anything to keep him happy and assemble a team that can compete and wins important things.

However, they also need to bring the right pieces to build that competitive team. If this is to be believed and Messi is dictating what the team does in the free market, maybe that’s not the best option for them.
