Albeit Liverpool have stated they won’t be spending money this summer like they did last year, the Reds still will try to land some players this offseason in order to reinforce specific zones of the pitch. Despite having one of the best offensives in the world, Jurgen Klopp’s side knows some moves need to be made in order to remain competitive.
After having won the latest edition of the Champions League, the Merseysiders are all in to finally win the Premier League title and new additions might be on their way to Anfield this summer.
Liverpool have allegedly handed an offer to sign Nicolas Pépé from Ligue 1 side Lille OSC this summer. If he goes there, that would mean Pepe has settled to be a non-starter for the English giants, with reports in France claiming that the club have actually made a formal attempt to sign the winger.
However, Le 10 Sport are the only media outlet who are reporting this story with any conviction, and having in mind information that saw the light earlier this week, it’s hard to imagine how they came to that conclusion. Although Liverpool have stated their desire to add some depth to the attack with another forward, Liverpool Echo understand Pepe’s €60 million price tag won’t make this transfer a desired one for the Reds.
The report also claims that there are already two offers on the table for Lille to consider from unnamed clubs, which sounds like a more plausible scenario for the 24-year-old. Besides Liverpool, several other Premier League clubs like Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United have been linked with the Ivorian.
Moreover, recent reports suggest the player has favored a move to Bayern Munich this summer, and if the Bavarians get to sign Leroy Sane, Manchester City see Pepe as a very good replacement for the German international.
