Although they have stated that this offseason won’t be full of spending like the prior one, Liverpool are still working to get themselves one or two pieces before the beginning of the season. They have reportedly revived an old interest in Olympique Lyonnais star Nabil Fekir, and now several reports suggest Liverpool are ready to make a surprising move and steal one of the most coveted players in the summer transfer window.
The Reds are looking to steal Sporting Lisbon star Bruno Fernandes, and reports from Portugal suggest that they have submitted a €45 million bid in an attempt to beat fellow Premier League sides Manchester City and Manchester United for Fernandes’ signature.
Correio da Manha has updated on Fernandes’ situation now that Tottenham decided not to make a run for the Portugal international, and they state that Liverpool are the first and so far only side to hand a bid to Sporting, believed to be around the €45-million mark.
Sporting are reportedly keen to sell the midfielder, but they have to receive a substantial offer in order to let him go. Several Premier League sides have been rumored to be interested in Bruno, including the likes of City and United, and the club has tried to start an auction for the 24-year-old without much success.
Last season, Fernandes racked up 32 goals and 18 assists in 53 appearances, making himself a known name in European football as one of the most interesting midfielders across the continent. It remains unclear whether Sporting would accept the Reds’ offer, but some say a fee of around €50 million might be enough to convince the Portuguese giants to part ways with the playmaker.
