Transfer Rumors: Manchester City Target Real Madrid Star As David Silva Replacement

Following a successful 10-year spell in Manchester City, David Silva has informed he will be leaving the club at the end of the upcoming season. Silva has been nothing but great for the Citizens, therefore the team will try to find a proper replacement that can provide the same quality as ‘El Mago’.

That is why City have gotten to work to find the best piece that can maintain the team’s level and it looks like they found it in Madrid. Manchester City are reportedly weighing up a move for Real Madrid playmaker Isco Alarcon, who is available for €80 million.

City’s boss Pep Guardiola sees Isco as the best candidate to success Silva when the midfielder leaves Etihad Stadium at the end of the 2019/20 campaign. Per Marca, Manchester are keen to take advantage of Real's current situation with the Financial Fair Play and try to get the Spaniard midfielder now that his current side is in need of recouping the money they have spent during the transfer window.

This offseason Madrid spent over €300 million on their new players, with Chelsea superstar Eden Hazard their most expensive arrival, having been acquired for a fee that could potentially rise to €150 million. Thus, the La Liga side must recover at least €100 million with their outgoings, meaning they are willing to let non-essential personnel like Isco depart for the right price.

Albeit Madrid’s boss Zinedine Zidane has told Isco he’s part of his plan for the next season, the directive still wants to listen to offers for him and see what they can get for the playmaker. Once City confirm the arrival of Atleti's Rodri, that would be the best moment to secure Isco’s signature, as well. But, seeing that Manchester is about to complete expensive deals for Harry Maguire and the aforementioned Rodri, a move for the former Malaga player doesn’t look so possible.

Still, this is Manchester City we’re talking about, and perhaps a surprising move for Alarcon might be in the works for them. They count with young Phil Foden, who can be taught by Silva while he’s still around, but if they don’t want to take risks, Isco would be more than a perfect signing for the Sky Blues.
